Tax dedutions for Public Trasportation and Pre-Filled Tax Returns

Starting January 1, 2025, information regarding purchases and refunds for passes bought through the Arriva MyPay app and the Arriva website will be automatically sent to the Internal Revenue Service to be included in your pre-filled tax return.

Be sure to enter all required information correctly. If there are errors, the submission may be rejected, preventing the data from being included in the pre-filled tax return.

You will be asked to enter:

The tax ID number of the subscription holder.
The tax ID number of the purchaser (if different from the subscription holder).
Consent to the transmission of data.

If you do not wish to send the data to the Internal Revenue Service, simply do not give your consent at the time of purchase.

  • Through the Italian Revenue Agency:
    From January 1 to March 16 of the year following the purchase, by sending the objection form and a copy of your ID via email to: opposizioneutilizzospesetrasporto@agenziaentrate.it.
  • Through our company:
    By filling out the “Objection to Submission of Pre-filled 730 Form” form below and submitting it by December 31 of the year of purchase, indicating:
    – Service area
    – First and last name
    – Tax ID number of the subscription holder

Tax incentives

Pursuant to the provision contained in the 2020 Budget Law (Law No. 160 of December 27, 2019), effective January 2020, expenses incurred for the purchase of public transportation passes are eligible for tax deductions (IRPEF) only if the pass is purchased using payment methods other than cash.

Listed below is the documentation to be submitted with your tax return to certify and substantiate the expense incurred for the purchase of the public transportation pass and to obtain the applicable tax deduction (19% of the expense up to a maximum amount of €250.00).

Annual subscriptions
  1. A copy of the ID card showing the subscriber’s first and last name;
  2. The purchase receipt issued at the time the subscription was purchased;
  3. A tax receipt, a copy of the check, or a payment detail from the bank statement.
Monthly/weekly passes
  1. A copy of the ID card showing the subscriber’s first and last name;
  2. “Stamps” (stickers/subscriptions) purchased or the purchase receipt issued at the time the subscription was purchased;
  3. Fare schedule (for paper tickets) indicating, for the fare class shown on the card, the amount (fare) paid;
  4. Tax receipt, copy of the check, or payment details from the bank statement.
Digital subscriptions
  1. Purchase receipt available for download online from the website
  2. A printout of the screenshot of the annual/monthly/weekly subscription saved on your smartphone;
  3. Tax receipt, a copy of the check, or a payment detail from your bank statement.
Receipts

Single-trip tickets are not tax-deductible; however, the receipt serves as proof of purchase.

No invoice is issued because the VAT applicable to public transportation tickets is objectively non-deductible pursuant to Article 19-bis 1, letter e, of Presidential Decree No. 633/1972; all our tickets, as they display the price, the route, and the company’s tax information, are therefore valid as tax receipts (Article 12 of Law No. 413/1991).

Receipts already in your possession are therefore valid, for administrative purposes, as proof of expenditure and/or for any tax deductions.


DIGITAL TICKET:

The receipt will be sent via email.

RECHARGEABLE TICKET:

The receipt is provided by the retailer at the time of purchase

CONTACTLESS:

The receipt can be downloaded from: Dedicated website

Please be advised that Arriva Italia does not issue any additional documents for tax returns.

The company does not have a copy of the paper subscriptions issued, so if they have not been kept we are not able to produce any proof of purchase.
